The consequences of inappropriate medication are diverse and have great clinical impact: from adverse effects and medication interactions to fractures from falls and increased morbidity and mortality. To avoid or ameliorate such consequences, as well as to address its causes, bearing in mind patients’ safety, deprescription has emerged as a safer, more prudent and humane practice. Primary care is in a privileged position to address this challenge of deprescription and it should be part of any strategy of quaternary prevention.Downloads
