Introduction: The decision-making process in clinical practice can be analysed on several aspects, which converge on a path that passes between theoretical knowledge and its application in practice. In situations involving bioethics, the issues involving decision-making are even more complex, considering that they are moments that touch the subjectivity of the actor involved. Objective: This empirical study aims to verify the trends of bioethical justification during decision-making involving clinical situations of quaternary preventions among residents and their preceptors of family and community medicine. Methods: Qualitative, through individual projective interviews, using fictitions clinical vignettes as a trigger for the interview’s guiding questions. After their transcriptions, the material thematic analysis technique was performed. Results: Showed that the participants tended to justify their decision-making choices through three major thematic blocks, which are related to each other. The first block was the justification for decision making by scientifi knowledge, the second block was based on biomedical principles and the third block was a content related to the doctor-patient relationship. Conclusions: Though the discussion of these results it was possible to verify that there is a web between clinical objectivity and personal subjectivity that do no demonstrate to be competitors, but symbiotic to reach the unique end that is the beneficicense of the user.
